The story so far

Finefolk started when Sara, a Kiwi living in Switzerland, couldn’t find proper peanut butter — the kind being made back home: freshly roasted, full of flavour, just a few good ingredients. So she started making her own. A few jars turned into more, as friends kept asking for it. That’s still the heart of it: small batches, made well, and shared.

Our founder

I’ve never trained in food. Never planned to start a business. But food just makes sense to me. I’ve spent a serious amount of time with it. There are two ways I like to make a batch of nut butter. Quietly—listening to the roast, watching the texture. Other times, it’s more about mood. The tunes are on, usually a running mix of whatever’s been on repeat while I prep the next batch. Early mornings are my favourite roast time. Everything’s still. No distractions.

Sharing my playlist here. I add to it regularly. Glass Animals even snuck the words peanut butter into a lyric, so obviously they made the cut. From me to you, this is just the beginning :–)

What makes Finefolk different?

WE ROAST DARKER

Going further with the roast draws out a deeper, almost caramel taste that’s hard to walk away from. It’s not the quickest way, but it’s the only way we get the flavour we’re after.

MADE IN ZURICH

Everything happens close to home — roasted, blended, and jarred by us, in small batches. It means fresher nut butter, and bigger taste.

ALL ABOUT TEXTURE

Thick, dense, and satisfying — because we use quality nuts and add nothing to thin them out. It’s the sort of texture we happily geek out over, the one that makes a piece of toast (or a spoon) feel like a proper treat.

Daily fuel

A healthier kind of snack — plant-powered, low on nonsense, big on taste. Keeps you going (and grinning).
Nut butters

Smooth vs crunchy

Two camps: smooth or crunchy. Our smooth is naturally more liquid — ground longer so the oils really come out, great for cooking. Some brands grind it smooth then toss in nut bits. Feels a bit like cheating to us. We do it straight up, so our crunchy’s thick and rustic. Just how we like it.

What protecting the planet means to us.

Using glass jars is a no-brainer — they last, can be reused, and keep our footprint lower than the alternatives. But it’s never simple. Our labels are still plastic so you can see what’s inside, and shipping glass comes with its own impact. It’s always a trade-off. We look at every part of what we do and will always keep pushing for smarter choices.
